Learning Commons Information

Mt. Ararat Middle School Learning Commons offers students a relaxed environment in which to browse a large selection of materials, read, study, and do research. With a collection of approximately 14,000 fiction, nonfiction, research books,a variety of magazines, and one daily newspaper there is something for everyone! The learning commons has computers for student access to the Internet, our online catalog, and online research databases, and online encyclopedias. An extensive DVD/VHS collection, books on tape, and Playaway audio books help support the middle school curriculum.

Lending

Books are checked out for two weeks. Students may renew a book for an additional two weeks as long as no one has reserved it. Students are responsible for all materials checked out of the learning commons. Students do have to pay for replacement costs or damage to materials check out of the learning commons.

In order to adhere to guidelines around the quarantining of books, the Learning Commons will be closed to student visits for the time being. Instead, materials may be requested utilizing an online ordering process. Students in Option 1 will have Learning Commons materials delivered to their team area. Students in Option 2 can work with Learning Commons staff to coordinate pickup of materials. As restrictions are eased, students will be able to access the Learning Commons, as outlined below. Notice will be given when this becomes available. Please contact the school with any questions.
